At Desert Spirit, students have the opportunity to grow beyond the classroom through a wide range of clubs and activities. These programs help students explore their interests, build new skills, and connect with classmates in meaningful ways.

Civic Leadership Opportunities

Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH) Leadership – Weekly lessons in leadership, service, and community building for grades K–8.
Service Projects – From community gardening to recycling drives, students lead quarterly service projects that make a real difference.
EXCEL Leadership Program – Expands leadership training and prepares students to take active roles in school and community life.

Innovative & Technology Clubs

Webmaster Club – Students learn how to design and maintain websites, growing real-world tech skills.
Immersive Lab/Makerspace – Hands-on opportunities in robotics, coding, 3D printing, and digital design.
Disney Musical Tech Crew – A stage production elective where students take part in lighting, sound, and technology roles.
Junior Techies – Student-led media and tech support, including recording and producing morning announcements.

Arts, Music, and Creative Expression

Music & Theater – Students bring the Disney Musical to life on stage while also learning the behind-the-scenes tech and design aspects.
Art & Multimedia – Exploring photography, video, and other visual art forms to expand creative expression.

Mosaic Clubs & Special Interest

K-Kids (Kiwanis Club) – Fosters leadership and service through civic projects and community partnerships.
Community Gardening – Hands-on gardening projects in collaboration with Glendale Heart for the City and Mountain Park Health Clinic.
Outdoor & Environmental Projects – Recycling, composting, and sustainability-focused activities tied to civic leadership learning.

Annual Highlights

Students showcase their learning and leadership through special events such as National Gardening Day, the Disney Musical performance, and end-of-year Spotlight on Service Projects. These events highlight the innovation, collaboration, and community impact that make Desert Spirit unique.
